So, I've had a tattoo since 1993 and photos of my original tattoo and my cover can be seen in the gallery. Ever since that first experience, my fascination with tattoos and the stories behind them has grown steadily. This fascination intensified with the experience I had designing and then obtaining my second tattoo in late December of 1999. Since I got my new tattoo I have enjoyed showing it to people and sharing the story behind it. Nothing catches my attention like a tattoo and I love to hear people describe their art and tell me their stories.
(spark)
The spark of creation that lead me to buy a domain name and build this website happened in early January 2002. I was at the gym on a Tuesday night doing some cardio on an elliptical training machine and bored out of my mind as usual. I wasn't in a position to watch TV or I wasn't interested in what was on. Instead of concentrating on what I was doing, I was looking around at the rest of the gym, people watching. Almost directly in front of me were two tattooed men doing some circuit training. One guy apparently had one entire leg covered and the other was just as extensively tattooed. As the minutes passed I could see what appeared to be a family resemblance between these two guys. Maybe they're related, maybe they're brothers. I started to put it together as I chugged along, " . . . Brothers with tattoos . . . Brothers with ink . . . Ink brothers . . . InkBrothers."
InkBrothers.Com Policies
Revised 10-15-03
All visitors to InkBrothers.Com are subject to the following polices, guidelines and warnings. The owner of this website has attempted to provide a safe, fun, and easy to use resource for the tattoo community. Being aware of and following these procedures will help ensure the success of InkBrothers.Com.
Although content on InkBrothers.Com may use male-specific language and the site name itself is male-specific, women are not prohibited from making full use of this site. Rather, InkBrothers.Com welcomes all visitors regardless of gender, national origin, race, or sexual preference.
Depending on the content of certain areas of this website, viewers under a certain age (18 in the United States) may be prohibited.
Age-restricted areas of the website will be clearly labeled as such. InkBrothers.Com expects these labels to be observed and respected.
InkBrothers.Com is not responsible if visitors do not heed these warnings.
InkBrothers.Com does not knowingly provide (or "host") intentionally pornographic images. It is possible that some images of pierced, tattooed, or otherwise modified body parts or areas of the body may be objectionable to some viewers.
InkBrothers.Com does not discriminate and does not tolerate discriminatory language or images. InkBrothers.Com reserves the right to refuse or delete any visitor-contributed content deemed discriminatory. The definition of "discriminatory content" is left solely to the operator of InkBrothers.Com.
InkBrothers.Com is not responsible for verifying the ownership, authorship, or copyright of contributed content.
This specifically pertains to postings in the InkBrothers Forum and images contributed to the InkBrothers Gallery and generally applies to any other content on this website.
InkBrothers.Com expects altruism and honesty from any person or entity contributing content to this site.
By submitting or posting any content to this site, visitors imply that they are the author or owner of such material.
If visitors submit or post content to this site that they do not own or have not authored, InkBrothers expects that permission has been obtained from the author or owner of the content and that the author or owner is properly cited.
Images contributed to the InkBrothers gallery are subject to the following conditions:
You agree to not hold InkBrothers.Com responsible for any third-party misuse or redistribution of images contributed to the InkBrothers Gallery. If, after contributing an image to the InkBrothers Gallery, you feel that the image has been exploited, contact InkBrothers to have the image removed.
It is recommended that you, the contributor, include copyright or ownership text in the image itself. This is done with image editing software by "overlaying" text on the image. If you do not have such software or are otherwise not able to do this, inform InkBrothers upon submission of your image(s) of any text you wish to have added.
Contributed images must not violate any InkBrothers.Com policies stated elsewhere on this page or elsewhere on the site.
Contributed image files are subject to cropping, resizing or other manipulation before being added to the gallery.
Contributed image files will be converted to the JPG format before being added to the gallery. The JPG file format allows for a high compression ratio to be used when storing images. In order to allow for as many images as possible in a finite amount of space, a high compression ratio will be used for storing these images. This compression will result in a negligible loss of image quality, to most viewers this will not be noticeable. Compression also allows for images to be viewed in a shorter amount of time.
Images contributed to the InkBrothers Gallery will be placed in a specific category depending on the content of the image. Images may not be submitted to or appear in multiple categories. Suggestions regarding which category an image belongs in are welcome but the final decision on this matter is made by the webmaster. Once an image has been placed in a category, suggestions are still welcome but the final decision on this matter will be made by the webmaster.
It will be possible for viewers of the InkBrothers Gallery to download and further distribute or otherwise exploit the images contributed to the gallery. InkBrothers.Com can not be held accountable for such distribution but InkBrothers.Com does not condone or promote this behavior. Visitors who contribute images to the gallery should be aware of this possibility before making contributions.
I will review your work and have a few of my buddies look at it as well.
If your work is accepted, I'll let you know that you won the contest.
Anyone may enter the contest as many times as they like but an artist may win the contest only one month a year.
At least a week before your month starts, you need to have sent me at least 10 images of your work to appear in your artist of the month gallery. You can also include as much information about yourself as you like, a photo of yourself, a link to your website, etc. You should especially include information on how to contact you and where your shop is. I'll then put together a bio and a gallery for your work and make it available on the site.
A link to your gallery will appear on my "features" page for the entire month. After the month has ended, your gallery and bio will remain on the site for as long as you like.
